The largest cruise ship to sail in Australian waters, Royal Caribbean’s Ovation of the Seas is set to visit Darwin for a second time.

Carrying 4280 passengers and 1610 crew, the ship is due to dock early on Tuesday.

Port Darwin MP Paul Kirby says the $1 billion liner is the fourth biggest cruise ship in the world and boasts such features as a bar where robots serve drinks, surfing experiences and indoor sky diving.

“The ship will have departing guests that will stay a few days in the NT as well as guests embarking the vessel in Darwin, providing an influx of visitors to our region,” Mr Kirby said.

Tourism Minister Lauren Moss said the cruise ship industry was worth an estimated $87.6 million to the NT economy each year.

“Passengers and crew will be undertaking tours, visiting local attractions and shopping at local retail outlets, cafes and restaurants as well as staying in hotels and booking airline seats, all of which provide flow-on benefits,” Ms Moss said.
